The Leeds Sleep & Wellbeing Study
About the study
This study aims to investigate the extent to which different daily activities impact mental and physical wellbeing. Daily hassles, stressors and personal factors are known to influence our health behaviours and feed into if, how, and to what extent we may experience negative thoughts and feelings.
Sleep, in particular, is arguably our most important of health behaviour as it has been linked with a variety of life outcomes; but less is known about the extent to which changes in our sleeping patterns differ depending on personal lifestyle factors and psychological characteristics. This study intends to address this gap in our knowledge via collecting measures of psychological well-being and sleep quality over a period of 2 weeks.
What will it involve?
There are two parts to this study.
First, you will be required to complete two short questionnaires (once now and a second time 2 weeks - which we will email you) about your current mental wellbeing (i.e., feeling stressed, under pressure, or worrying a lot).
Second, on each day during this period, you will be required to respond to a short text message (once per day) in view of better understanding your sleep. Specific instructions on how to provide this information, as well as practical advice on what to do during the study, will be provided once you have completed the first questionnaire.
