Terms and Conditions for Participants
- THESE TERMS & CONDITIONS
These are the terms and conditions on which you may use the Participate website. Please read these terms and conditions carefully before you apply to be involved in a study.

3. ABOUT THE PARTICIPATE WEBSITE
The Participate website enables those interested in taking part in mental health research studies to share their details with researchers looking for participants. As owner of the Participate website, MQ acts as a facilitator between those conducting research studies and those looking to participate. MQ is not responsible for the experience of participants once they have been contacted by the researcher or enrolled in a study.
When a participant registers their interest in a study their information is passed directly to the researcher. This information includes their full name, email address, gender and ethnicity. You can read more about how your information is processed and stored in the Participate privacy policy. We expect participants to ensure that the information they provide is accurate.
Individuals cannot sign up on behalf of anyone else other than themselves. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to apply to take part unless they have parental consent.
If you are invited by a researcher to participate, and consent to participate in a particular research study, the researcher’s policies and terms and conditions will apply to your involvement in that study and the use of your personal data relevant to that study. We are not involved in the selection process or evaluating your eligibility for a study. Nor are we responsible for your involvement in any study or any personal data you share directly with a researcher for the purpose of the study or otherwise.
Any request to be removed from a study once enrolled must be requested directly from the researcher conducting the study. MQ does not retain control of participant data once downloaded from the Participate website by a researcher. Participants should be aware that different legislation applies once your data has been gathered as part of a research study. You should contact the researcher directly for further information.
4. YOUR RESPONSIBILTIES
You are expected to adhere to standard information security good practice including, but not limited to:
- Not sharing accounts information
- Choosing secure passwords
- Only accessing confidential information privately
In the event that you fail, or choose not to, provide any information requested by us, we will not be able to complete the process to register your interest in a particular study. You will be notified of this at the time.
5. OUR SUPPLY OF THE PARTICIPATE WEBSITE
We supply the Participate website to you on an “as is” basis. We do not warrant that your use of the Participate website will be uninterrupted, error or virus free.
