If you choose to take part in the study, the research team will ask you to do the following over the next 12 months:
- Sign the main study consent form.
- Take a medication (either sertraline or placebo with no active ingredient) every day for the next 6 months.
- Complete assessments 8 times in total: screening, 1-6 months each month and 12 months, which involves answering a series of questions in the form of interviews and questionnaires.
- Have a blood sample taken at one month.
At 6 months your allocation will be revealed. Your doctor will decide further treatment with you according to what group you were allocated. If you were allocated placebo then this may mean starting sertraline treatment. If you were allocated sertraline this may mean continuing or stopping treatment.
